Thing 23!!!

Hooray! I'm finished! This has been an interesting experience. I have certainly learned much about Web 2.0, which is nice because I'm using many of these applications in my classes. This semester we are blogging and creating wikis in my Bibliography of the Sciences class.

There are some things I will probably never use again but others that I think I will keep up -- Bloglines with my RSS feeds, Library Thing, Google Docs.

Thing 23

Week 9 - Thing 22 Downloadable Books

Finally, an easy one! I've been using Overdrive, NetLibrary and Project Gutenberg for a while.

I still prefer to read the paper version than one on a computer screen. I downloaded a book about creating web pages for one of my classes and still ended up checking out the print version.

I'm slowly getting used to reading articles, etc. without printing them out but it's hard. I enjoy highlighting, which apparently you can also do on the computer to the electronic version.

Anyway, I have yet to download a book to my MP3 player. I would have to clear out some music to make room. Either that or get a player with more space.

Week 9 - Thing 21 Podcasts

I like that you can subscribe to Podcasts rather than having to continually search for them. Searching on Yahoo Podcasts, I see that NPR has one. I also found The OPLIN 4cast, although it looks like it's geared to Ohio libraries, there may still be some interesting info available.

Week 8 -Thing 19

I love Google Maps! It fascinates that I can search for a place and then zoom in to see what it looks like. We are traveling to Gray, Maine in September and I was able to find our friend's house, an inn nearby, and the roads to get there on the hybrid map.

Week 8 - Thing 18

I think I would use Google Docs, especially for school work. That way I can work on documents away from home without having to remember my flash drive or save and email things to myself when I don't have my laptop with me. Since I have a google account for this blog, it doesn't require yet another username and password.
